Train Hits Car In Granger On Christmas, Driver Arrested

The St. Joseph Co. Sheriff's Dept. has released information about a Christmas Day crash between a train and car. The information is below.  

On Wednesday, December 25, 2019 at approximately 8:45 p.m. the Canadian National Railway advised our department that a train had collided with a passenger vehicle in the area of Brick and Currant Roads in Granger, Indiana.
 
Upon arrival, our patrol officers located a vehicle next to the train near Brick Road. The vehicle was unoccupied. Approximately one-hour later, dispatch received a call from a male stating that he was the driver of the vehicle struck by the train.
 
Our patrol officers met with the driver and he was arrested on pending charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated and leaving the scene of an injury accident. The male driver was identified as Patrick Twyman, age 25, of Millersburg, Indiana.
 
The incident is being investigated by our department and officers from the Canadian National Railway.
