2 Indiana University Dorms Offered To Healthcare Workers For Rest, Isolation

(Matt Rasnic, WFIU/WTIU News)

Two Indiana University student dorms are being offered to healthcare workers to rest and isolate during the coronavirus pandemic.

IU spokesperson Chuck Carney said in an email that 60 rooms will soon be available at Briscoe Quadrangle in Bloomington and up to 300 rooms available at University Tower Residence Hall in Indianapolis.

He says IU Health is coordinating the availability, but rooms at IUPUI’s University Tower are also being offered to Eskenazi Health, the VA hospital, and the Marion County Health Department.

An email sent to students living at Briscoe says items left behind will be moved by Soft Touch moving company. Boxes will be labeled by tower name and room number and stored at Eigenmann for pick-up after the state’s stay at home order expires.

Essential room items such as medication may be requested for delivery by the university by 5 p.m. April 8.
