The Indiana Packers Corporation will suspend operations Monday at its Delphi processing facility, according to a letter to farmers today.
The move follows a similar decision by Tyson Foods, which closed its Logansport facility earlier this week after more than 100 employees there tested positive for COVID-19.
Together, the closures make up the majority of pork processing capability in Indiana. The impact is significant to farmers as a loss of two plants to send their mature hogs.
The Delphi facility will close on Monday; no date for reopening was given to producers.
Indiana Packers Corporation has not yet responded to a request for comment.
This is a developing story.
