Indiana Prisons Suspend Visitation Due To COVID-19

The Indiana Department of Corrections has suspended visitation at eight facilities across the state as a precautionary measure against the spread of COVID-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus.

The affected facilities are Heritage Trail Correctional Facility, Plainfield Correctional Facility and Reception Diagnostic Center all in Hendricks County. Indiana State Prison, Westville Correctional Facility, and LaPorte Juvenile Correctional Facility in LaPorte County.

The Indiana Women’s Prison in Marion County and the New Castle Correctional Facility in Henry County.

State officials are also asking that anyone who is sick refrain from visiting any health or residential facility like prisons, hospitals and nursing homes.

Anyone who suspects they may have been exposed to COVID-19 and is showing symptoms to call ahead before showing up at a doctor’s office or hospital.
