St. Joseph County Public Library Board Executive Director Stephanie Murphy fears Mishawaka Republican Sen. Ryan Mishler's bill would bring too much partisan politics into library operations.

Granger Republican Sen. Linda Rogers Thursday announced she was pulling her bill to replace South Bend Community Schools' board with a state-appointed one this session, after it met overwhelming opposition at a committee hearing Wednesday.

At its first committee hearing Wednesday, Granger Republican Sen. Linda Rogers' bill to replace South Bend Community Schools' elected board with one appointed by the Indiana Secretary of Education drew overwhelming opposition from people who testified. Rogers said she likely will make major changes based on their input.

South Bend Community Schools Superintendent Mansour Eid said he met with Sen. Linda Rogers Saturday and explained how the corporation has made improvements over the past year.
