Humane Society of St. Joseph County

As fireworks light up the skies ahead of the 4th of July, the St. Joseph County Humane Society says it’s already seeing a rise in runaway pets, and their shelter is full.

The Humane Society of St. Joseph County says it's trying to get creative to free up shelter space, including waiving many fees it previously charged owners to recover their lost pets.

A Mishawaka assistant fire chief praised the Humane Society of St. Joseph County for reuniting pets with their people, and he credited Autumn Lakes Apartments for working to find displaced tenants new homes
