The Goshen Fire Department has installed a new baby box at the Central Fire Station, providing a safe and anonymous place for mothers in crisis to surrender their newborns.

The baby was handed over by the mother to a firefighter at Turkey Creek Fire Territory Station 1 in Syracuse.

Safe Haven Baby Boxes officials say the first baby was surrendered at the Cleveland Township Fire Station.
