Join us for a “Show in a Week” experience for actors and technicians ages 8 years to 18 years. Rehearsal will be held April 6-10 with two public performances on April 11 at 2PM and 7PM. Your registration includes a show t-shirt, two free tickets to the performance, costume and prop costs, and a cast party following the April 11 performance.
SynopsisAlexander is having a bad day. A terrible day. A horrible day. To be quite honest, it’s a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day. But then, everybody has bad days, sometimes. In this delightful adaptation of her popular book, Judith Viorst sets Alexander’s rather trying life to music and brings to the stage one of America’s feistiest characters. Not only does Alexander wake up with gum in his hair, but his mother forgets to pack him dessert, and his best friend decides he’s not his best friend anymore. And if that’s not bad enough, Alexander’s brothers don’t have any cavities but—he does. And just when it can’t get any worse, there are lima beans for supper and —yuck!—kissing on TV. It is enough to make anyone want to go to Australia. Alexander’s struggles with life’s daily dramas will not only entertain but educate young audiences as they identify with Alexander and the obstacles he encounters, encouraging them to share their feelings and to realize that bad days happen—even in Australia.

“What Can You Do to Fix Our Broken Government?” will be presented on March 12th from 6:30 to 8:30 pm at the UUFE Hall, 1732 Garden St, Elkhart. This program is open to the public and there is no charge to attend this event.Dwight Fish, current Elkhart City Council Member, and Mike Puro, former mayor of Goshen, will present information on:• How your community can take effective action to help repair our broken government.• What resources are available to combat abuses of our civil rights.• How your one vote can be leveraged to make a bigger impact.There will be a Q&A session and opportunities to meet local leaders of various rights organizations following the presentation. Handouts of contact information on elected officials and local organizations fighting for everyone’s civic rights will also be available.

The Performing Media Festival is an annual showcase of audio-visual performance works in which artists present works of integrated media by unapologetically crossing disciplinary boundaries. The opening concert will feature works for clarinet, guitar, trombone, voice, violin, live audio-visual media, and multichannel surround sound by performers and composers from around the Midwest.

The first Brown Bag Lunch & Lecture Event is on Friday, March 13, from Noon – 1:00 p.m. Join Studebaker National Museum curator Kyle Sater for an in-depth look at the life and legacy of one the heroes of the Revolutionary era—the Marquis de Lafayette—and his triumphant return to the United States for a “farewell tour” in 1824-1825. Mr. Sater will also share the story behind the oldest vehicle in the Studebaker’s collection, a carriage used by Lafayette’s party on this tour. So come celebrate the bicentennial of this remarkable event and learn more about America’s “favorite fighting Frenchman!”
