The St. Joseph County Prosecutor's office confirms that the Metro Homicide Unit now has identified a person of interest in the Chrisyah Stephens case. She was the 7-year-old girl who was killed in a drive-by shooting last month in South Bend as she attended another child's birthday party.

At this point, the person of interest is not under arrest and the potential suspect's name has not been released.  The shooting happened on the evening of August 28th in the 800 block of East Donald Street. Police reported at the time that multiple shots were fired from a vehicle that was driving past the home. And although there were numerous people in front of the home at the time, Chrisyah was the only person hit by the gunfire.
