Every 30 seconds, someone in the world is sold into slavery, and an estimated 50% of those are children. Human trafficking is the world’s fastest growing crime, accounting for $150 billion in profit around the world per year. And according to the US Department of Homeland Security, it doesn’t just happen outside of the United States. There are approximately 1 million enslaved people in the United States today.
Constantine Public Schools and Women at Risk, Intl are partnering to bring experts in human trafficking to the Michiana area to educate anyone who cares about this issue to be trained as a “civilian first responder”— someone with the knowledge to recognize the signs of human trafficking, report it effectively, offer support to victims, and help their community stay safer.
Join us on Saturday, May 11, from 9 AM until 5 PM at Constantine High, School, 1 Falcon Drive, Constantine, Michigan. You will hear from Becky McDonald, founder and president of WAR, International, along with representatives from the Department of Homeland Security and survivors of human trafficking.

The Matchsellers will perform a 50-minute concert and then appear on a live taping of The Wild Rose Moon Radio Hour, which is distributed on WVPE Radio and WNIT Television. Hailing from the heartland of America, The Matchsellers infuse traditional roots music with a modern, irreverent twist and call it Kansas City Bluegrass. Their songs are a rich tapestry of storytelling, humor, and sentimentality, offering a fresh take on timeless themes.
Core members Andrew Morris (guitar--from Warsaw, Indiana) and Julie Bates (fiddle--from Kansas City, MO) founded the band in Germany in 2013, where they met while working as English teachers. In the decade since, they have crafted a signature style and live show that leaves spectators laughing, dancing, crying, and wondering what could possibly happen next. Groundbreaking albums like the 2018 space opera Bluegrastronauts and the acoustic/electronic album One Fine Sweet and Sunny Day (2020) have garnered The Matchsellers critical acclaim and a dedicated following across the country.
In the band’s most recent iteration, mandolinist Brian McCarty brings an invaluable lifetime of experience in the Bluegrass tradition, while Brandon Day thrills audiences with his intricate bass solos. Together, thispower‐house four‐piece continuously pushes the boundaries of what acoustic music can be.
